Filled Vessel is a lifelong project for us. It began when we visited an orphanage in Central America. This orphanage was so much worse than the ones we had visited in other areas. These children were so malnourished and attention deprived. They were so desperate for any kind of human touch.
Since we couldn't take them all with us, we began brainstorming ways we could improve the quality of life for them. It became clear that if we could find ways to keep their families together, maybe we could achieve this. Clean water in their community was the answer we came up with.
With clean water, basic needs can be met. With clean water, people become a little more independent of external resources. With clean water, more children survive the high mortality rate due to dysentery.
